One more day to go until the open auditions - exciting times. We’ve got two final pieces of information for you to digest and take note of…
We need to ask anyone who attends to try and refrain from wearing big logos on their clothing, as we aren’t allowed to show these on TV. Otherwise we’ll have to make you perform in your underwear (joking).
Also, could everyone bring ID with them please – a passport or driving licence. We need to know you’re over 16 and are who you say you are. We don’t want David Bowie turning up and pretending to be Jason Donovan.
For further information on the open auditions check out our earlier blog post here.
Whoever’s coming down – see you tomorrow, bright and early.

im not so bothered about the finla 50 being announced, it is annoying but my main thing is getting information about call backs. They said it would be tuesday comming right. If you're in a band that drove down from bloody Newcastle, you would need to know before tomorrow that you need to come back down for the call backs and get someone to cover that shift on tuesday.
It just takes a blog saying "there were so many of you it looks like we're gunna be delayed with those results. Sit tight" and most of our girlish moaning would be silenced.

i'm sorry but this competition is now turning into a bit of a joke as they are taking forever release the names of the bands which got through.
Most shows like this take an hour maybe 2 at most to count up all the votes and decide the winner but this is taking near enough a week to conclude!
I'm sorry but it has been very dis-organised and really its starting to loose the proffesionalism aswell
dont have a go because im entitled to my opinion
thanks

We left at 6, got there for 8.30 and got seen just before 3. Worst time to have a hangover ever (not my intention to get drunk, just I know next time if i'm offered a blue-ray to say no!) - met some cool bands, check out the master chaynjis (pronounced changes) - they were the guys and girl with a double bass and they got filmed and interviewed by alex james in the queue. I'll be disappointed if they didn't get in.
Haven't heard anything yet. No idea if we will. We did our best but if we're not right, we're not right! Anyway, we've got a download ep out soon, so if you're interested check us out and give us an add on myspace. always cool to speak to other bands!

Do you know that for sure or are you just presuming? A lot of the acts said midnight last night, but the officials we talked to said midnight if possible but maybe the day after or even tomorrow. Judging by the delays with just about everything else in this competition, my guess would be that people HAVEN'T heard yet! Imagine having to listen back to all those recordings.
I'm sure the judges marked each act as they watched them as a "to watch" act. I'd imagine they'd have at least 40-50 "to watch" acts. I'm not sure they would have had time last night to decide the final 20 for call backs.
It would be good to hear something from someone official really!

All of the staff were very proffesional (2 f's or 2 s's??) and helped the day go along as smoothly as possible, well done to all involved and to all who attended!!
Hey even if we don't get a call back, it's all part of the journey,

We got there at 8.30 and were done by 4pm, at that point we were told we'd only be allowed to play half a song, but they let us go for the whole thing - then they sent us down to another room to do it again.
I hope that's a good sign ;D
The song we played is called 'No Such Thing as Monsters' - do have a listen on our page if anyone gets 5 mins.
Best of luck to everyone in the meantime - hopefully Orange will be in a position to let people know soon!

We haven't heard anything yet, but were told in our audition that Orange "wanted" to inform the successful parties yesterday, but thought that it would be more likely today.
Considering the amount of acts that they would have to shift through, I would imagine that phone calls will be being made this afternoon/evening, but that's just me.

Interesting queries re slicethepie and 'deals'. I think the short answer is 'ask a music lawyer'. Its a minefield out their, and even on this site it mentions record deals, publishing deals, etc.
I suspect unsigned do not want to put themselves in a position of awarding a contract to someone, only for another company to cry foul, as they have a prior claim. In respect of slicethepie, the basic idea is that punters invest in the product to get it made and distributed, and reap the rewards if its succesful. Again no ones going to give you a deal, and then have to pay out to co-investors.
Noting the number of bands who have music for sale out there, and the plethora of ways you can get your music out these days, how many people are truly 'unsigned'?
Seye Adelekan says:
Im still recovering from the audition experience. I went to a gig the night before and was fighting off a cold and didnt get any sleep so it was a struggle. I still managed to get there at quarter to 6.
I thought i would see tent city like at glasto or when Japanese people are queing for the release of a new games console but got there and found a jolly 20 or so people there. And dear lord am i glad i got there when i did because when i left around 10 thirty you couldnt see the end of the line.
I dont know what is going on with the calling process, maybe someone who was there later in the day can help. Did they give ANY solid information last night? I did think it impossible to be able to sift through so many people and call the winners last night. False hope or no? Good luck to all who know already and those who dont. I wish you all the best.
Check me out if you have a spare moment and tell me what you think. Pop music in fine form.

Couldn't go to the auditions because we're recording our first album at the moment but good luck to everyone who went and gets through. I hope the people picked were picked for being talented, alarm bells started ringing when an earlier blog post said something like 'our producers will be going along the lines looking for those who look the part...' there are too many bands out there with more style than substance which has go to be the wrong way round.

Thankx the keys.
I think it was unfortunate for those of us who were near the back most of the day and stood in that sun and the standing around really took the focus off everything for everyone- it was a brilliant atmosphere most of the time especially during filming and i'm sure there's some really good footage on their cameras of that. :-)
Even though it wasn't the best thing i've ever done in my singing career, I still take it as experience , and it gave my guitarist audition experience too. So we go up and on with the release of I'll stand by you and a dance track in the new year. x
At the end of the day, its been a success for most as they have gained from getting their name out just that little bit more, and each little bit builds and builds. I'm looking on at the future as i've been and done that audition and i've learnt from it.
All the best to everyone x

Thanks for listening Carrielizar, much appreciated.
Good luck Cheryl, sounds like you feel the same as I do - I wasn't nervous really, just the conditions and time limits really put the pressure on more than anything lol!!
The song I chose to play is one that we put on slicethepie and has received the best reviews out of all our tracks, lots of people saying about how catchy it is so hoping the actual songwriting will be taken into consideration!!!!!!!
Will just have to wait and see I guess - I'm a million times more nervous waiting to see if I did enough to get my band through - I told the band I would do us justice on my own but feel a little like I could have done so much better to give us more of an opportunity.

Just got back to Doncaster from London for the wildcard open auditions... it is 9:45pm!!!
Was 5am when I woke up and 8:30 when I go to the audition... Richard and I queued for 6.5 nearly 7 hrs!!!
A&R were friendly, totally not what i'd expected.
I was a bit nervous and it showed a little in my vocal performance... all that sun and standing around really had me in the end :-( never mind, its all experience and I met some really cool ppl today and some outrageous ones too! lol.
I sang my song not only to the guests at the hotel the night before, and the audition, but got a cd played in the hotel 2, which was great publicity for me
I was filmed in the queues and had photos taken, which I hope turn out cool...
A tiring experience for all I think, but one we shall learn from hopefully ;-)
I wasn't nervous right until i stood on that x and then that was it, my nerves got the better of me. I wasn't out of tune, nor did i forget the lyrics, I just don't think it was my best performance, and my true ability shines better live with the full band and gear and an atmosphere to perform to. :-)
6.5 hrs in a queue and un un-warmed up artist is an overall reason for my not so best performance.
Richard and the A& R however thought it was ok, and that i'm being a bit critical of myself- which singers do.
Any way, good luck to all in evrything u do, and watch out for "I'll stand by you" released by myself on i-tunes, cdbaby etc on the 1st November - don't be a stranger, visit my myspace, say hi.
See you all out there!

Fall Of Jupiter got to the auditions really early and managed to get theirs done quite quickly. However since then they've been drinkin and sight seeing to the point where they have lost each other in London. Im waiting here in Leicester for their return, trying to give directions to very drunken men over a vague telephone line. If you spot a man looking lost, point him to leicester! They've had a great day by the sounds of things, but could be a statistic on the streets of London tonight.!?!

Josh: a friendly A&R guy? Well that's what they're paid for. And to like all the music you like. And have similar cultural reference points. And to appear like they're your friend and that, unlike they're bosses, they'll see you right.
Essentially to soften you up for the kill .

I agree with the vast majority o people who think this competition was a really good idea but is something that will need a hell of a lot longer (considering that Voting only seemed to last around a week) to decide the top 25.
We are one on many Rock bands out there that are maybe a bit much for the norm(Travis/coldplay listeners) but are every bit as talented (if not more) than all these "pop bands" (because in the end that's what they are...they are the popular music)
Rock music is something that should be seen live and enjoyed live....... and a TAPE/CD/DOWNLOAD should be used to remember the live show.......
I think US ROCK BANDS should use this site to meet other real talented musician's/bands around the country...It shouldn't matter what your style of music or how good your demo sounds..........lets use this site to take good music to the masses........people want to hear it......so lets give them it.........
WE Whiskey Trail are one of many excellent bands on this site....lets not waste this opportunity......lets get gigs out of it n let people here our music....

Given the number of bands on this site, I find it extremely unlikely that the judges were able to fairly and inclusively 'judge' all the remaining bands once the public vote had finished. This means that bands like 'Leika' and 'Veta Corps' didn't have a chance which sucks cos they easily blow away the competition. Rubbish! Guess we'll up with another flop like last year's winners... i mean, have you heard their stuff - they sound like a poor man's Hoosiers! And Hoosiers aren't very good anyway! I lost my mobile that we registered with a few days ago, so I gather you have sent our confirmation of the final 50 to our band email address ;o)
On a serious note, I gather once the 50 are announced there will be a huaage amount of traffic decending on the fortunate few to see what and why they were chosen.
Here's a teaser for you. What if the 25 acts through on votes were all dance acts? In the spirit of diversity in the competition would you need to 'discount' some of these acts and goes for the next highest voted act in a different genre?
No conspirect theories here, just a straighforward question.
