Performances ranged from bad to bizarre to brilliant. Ultimately, nineteen bands succeeded in impressing the judges enough to get through to the next round.
When six bands remained they headed out on a national tour – Revenue, The Ginger Bread Men, The Mentalists, Hijak Oscar, The Bad Robots and Mancini.
They played gigs in huge venues in Liverpool, Newcastle and Bristol to thousands of fans.
Having previously been eliminated by the judges after a lacklustre interview, Envy and Other Sins got themselves together and rose phoenix-like from the flames to win our Wildcard show where they were voted by the public back in to the competition.
In the semi-final show, Jo, Alex and Simon decided that the Bad Robots and Hijak Oscar just weren’t up to the challenge – leaving Envy and Other Sins and the bad boy indie-rockers Revenue to fight it out in the live final.
In the preceding week T4 viewers voted furiously online for who they wanted to win. Thousands and thousands of fans had their say about who should win the competition and in the final live show Envy and Other Sins were crowned our very first winners.
Since then Ali, Mark, Jarvey and Jim have released a single and an album.
The album was produced by Danton Supple, who has worked with the likes of Coldplay and Amy Macdonald in the past year.
Envy and Other Sins have toured nationwide and supported The Hoosiers, as well as playing to a sell-out crowd at the T4 on The Beach festival. They’re now working on their second album.
